One of my family members recently entered my email address into one of those sites that sends greeting cards.  I absolutetly despise those sites because they generate lots of spam.  How can I express disapproval of having my email address spread around without my permission, without seeming ungrateful for their thoughtfulness?

You could be sly and send them a mass email about Netiquette. Or you could thank them very much for the greeting card, and then explain that your email gets a lot of spam, so if they would send you a personal email, that would totally do. People tend to be nicer about things like that than you would think. Or you could change your email address and never tell them. That works too.

why does the simpsons suck nowadays?[sic] –Johnny Bravo

I don’t think the Simpsons suck that much these days. But if you consider that the 375th episode of the show aired last Sunday and that the show is in its 17th season (it is, in fact, the longest running American sitcom), I suppose that the plot ideas are getting to the point that they have loss mass appeal. The episodes have become a bit wackier, but I think that’s because the show is trying to be as fresh and contemporary as possible. It is a critically acclaimed show that takes risks, and being edgy isn’t always popular. So, kudos to the show for trying to be innovative after 17 seasons (the 18th starts soon)! And if you think it sucks, well then, too bad for you. There’s always Family Guy or South Park.
