Where are you from? – Curious
I was born in Mexico City. My mother is Colombian. My father’s father was Colombian as well, but my father was born and raised in Mexico (City). I moved to Texas when I was 3 months old (Houston, then Crocket, and finally at the age of five to McAllen), but I spent every holiday and vacation in either Mexico or Colombia. After I graduated from high school, my folks moved to Veracruz for four years and then back to McAllen. But I moved to Houston. A year and half ago I moved to Austin and nine months ago I moved to Pittsburgh. I am a naturalized American citizen, but I am still a citizen of Mexico and have an old Colombian passport that I suppose I could renew as well if I wanted to renounce my Mexican or American citizenships.
So… um… in answer to your question… I usually tell people I’m from Texas or everywhere. One of those.
What’s your story? What do you tell people?
